We’ve identified a handful of the best cruiser-style e-bikes from the hundreds our team of reviewers has tested. Cruisers come in two varieties that we have separated our selections into:

Velotric Discover 2
While the Discover 2 might differ greatly in appearance from the classic beach cruisers on this list, it’s not so different in its feel! This bike has a comfortable, upright riding position, curved and ergonomic handlebars, and a relaxed feel we found equally well suited to leisure rides and commuting.
In fact, the Discover is an incredibly versatile e-bike; through a variety of riding modes and customization options, it can be tailored to meet the preferences of nearly any rider. Users can alter the bike’s fit through its adjustable stem, its power level through a total of 15 assist levels, its speeds through Class 1/2/3 flexibility, and more.
There’s also a SensorSwap function that allows users to select either a torque- or cadence-sensing mode to switch up the feel of the ride. Going out for a bit of exercise? The torque mode allows the motor to respond to your level of effort. Taking the bike for a relaxing ride to the boardwalk? The cadence mode keeps the effort low and the fun factor high.
Additionally, the Discover 2 features lots of uncommonly high-tech features at its price point. Velotric included a host of bells and whistles, such as turn signals, a “set and forget” cruise control function, and security through Apple Find My™ technology. Lectric XPress 750 ST
While the bike is available in two frame styles with different handlebars, Lectric’s XPress 750 ST is a Dutch-style city cruiser with a great ride feel and tons of bang for the buck!
Lectric also offers the XPress in two price tiers; we tested both the $999 base model in the step-thru frame style and the upgraded $1299 version with a 750W motor and a larger 672-Wh battery in the high-step frame. We found the performance differences to be more than worth the extra cost, though we recommend the relaxed riding position of the ST model for cruiser fans.
Regardless of spec level, the XPress features Lectric’s first torque sensor, giving the bike a responsive and natural feel with adaptive motor output. It can quickly switch between Class 1, 2, and 3 modes to feel controlled or speedy. Additionally, it climbed hills exceptionally well in our testing!
As with the other cruisers on this list, the XPress feels comfortable to ride with curved handlebars, squishy grips, and a strain-free upright riding position. It also features a custom suspension fork to smooth rough pavement, as well as the option to add a suspension seatpost.
The top-tier 750W model provides extra oomph and battery capacity, but it is also easy to use, with a simple interface and a throttle with power levels dictated by the pedal assist setting. It is relatively feature-light to start (one way that Lectric can offer the bike at such an affordable price), but buyers can add other accessories such as fenders or a cargo rack at purchase.
Bottom line: we found the XPress 750 ST to be highly practical, responsive, comfortable, and easy to use. It’s simply a great bike at an excellent price!
Pros- As with all Lectric e-bikes, the XPress offers tons of value and great performance.
- We found it extremely comfortable, thanks to its upright positioning, Dutch-style handlebars, and ergonomic grips.
- The upgraded 750W model makes short work of hills and also includes a larger battery for greater range.

Cons- We’d have preferred a left-hand throttle with a below-the bar shifter on the right.
Velotric Breeze 1
Velotric’s Breeze 1 combines high-tech features and functionality with a streamlined and simple package. As we’ve come to expect from e-bikes made by this brand, it’s also a highly comfortable ride that makes leisurely cruises that much more relaxing and enjoyable!
Like other recent models in Velotric’s lineup, the Breeze 1 features a wide variety of customization options. Users can switch between torque and cadence-sensing modes to choose an active ride suitable for a workout or a low-effort experience when taking it easy.
The bike offers 15 total pedal assist settings (divided into three groups) that allow riders of all types to find their preferred power level. Its speed can also be set anywhere between 12 and 28 mph, making it appropriate for newer riders who prefer to go slow—or experienced users looking to get to their destination as quickly as possible.
The Breeze checked all the major boxes for a great cruiser in our testing. Its 627-Wh battery gave the bike excellent range, and its peppy 750W motor was effective for zipping along and tackling hills. It was also a joy to cruise on for extended rides, thanks to its nimble steering, cushy saddle, and adjustable riding position.

Aventon Pace 4
Aventon changed things up with its fourth take on the modern city cruiser. The Pace 4 switched to a BMX style bar which blends a playful feel to the typical relaxed cruiser ethos.
We liked the Pace 500’s comfortable feel and fun, quick handling. Its 500W motor felt surprisingly peppy and responsive, too! The ride can feel as relaxed or energetic as you want it to be thanks to some motor customization you can do in the Aventon app, and thanks to a torque sensor that allows the motor to change its power output based on how much pressure you put on the pedals.
The bike’s relatively stripped-down nature (it does not include a suspension, a cargo rack, or fenders) lends itself to traveling light, whether commuting to work or cruising around town. With the integration of turn signals into the frame’s seat stays, it’s also well suited to busy streets where communication with other drivers/cyclists is needed.
Aventon’s specced all of it’s latest rides with what they call the ACU. A 4G enabled security device where you can set geofencing restrictions, lock the rear wheel, or make the bike sound the alarm when it detects motion, meaning it’s a pretty safe option too.
The Pace 4 is a popular choice among senior riders due to its comfort factor and manageable weight at 53 lbs with the battery out (61.5 with it in), but we think its sleek frame and spirited feel are equally well suited for younger riders, too!

Vvolt Alpha II
The Vvolt Alpha II blends elements of a cruiser with those of a lightweight city bike, making for a ride that feels extra zippy, comfortable, and easy to use. With a headlight integrated seamlessly into its streamlined down tube, we think the Alpha II also looks pretty slick!
With a weight of 45 lbs, including its fully integrated battery, this bike is undoubtedly one of the lightest on this list! Its weight gave the ride a nimble, energetic feel that stood out when compared to many of the bulkier cruisers that appear here. Yet, the bike was still comfortable thanks to its backswept, Dutch-style handlebars, ergonomic grips, and relaxed riding position.
The Alpha II includes an approachable, gradually accelerating throttle, but its design encourages active pedaling. With a single-speed drivetrain, riders can adjust their preferred difficulty of pedaling through the bike’s assist system without the need to shift gears. We found this setup intuitive and easy to use!
We appreciated some of the less obvious things about the Alpha II, including its mid-step frame, the pack mounts on its rigid fork that can carry storage bags or other gear, and the low-maintenance benefit of its belt drive. Users should expect much less maintenance with its single speed-drivetrain and Gates belt when compared to a traditional chain and cassette.
Pros- The Alpha II’s low weight of 45 lbs makes it easy to lift and gives it extremely nimble handling.
- We found the bike simple and easy to use thanks to its single-speed drivetrain.
- The Gates Carbon belt is rated to last twice as long as a chain, plus it’s quieter and cleaner, too.
- The Alpha II blends a city bike with a cruiser, keeping the latter’s comfortable ride and relaxed positioning.
Cons- A larger chainring would help reduce ghost pedaling that started around 15.5 mph for us.
Specialized Turbo Como 3.0
One of the sharpest-looking cruiser e-bikes on our list, the Specialized Turbo Como is built around a proprietary motor and battery that also makes it lightweight, stealthy, and very nice to pedal. It comes in a few different trim options with differences in specs and features, but we recommend the 3.0 model that blends great features with an approachable price.
The bike’s motor is one of its biggest highlights; the custom mid-drive feels extremely natural and responsive. As Specialized advertises, “It’s 4x You,” meaning that the motor can amplify your effort four times. Pedaling the Turbo Como feels much like riding a non-electric bike while giving you the sense that you’re a trained athlete!
We think its overall design is downright cool, too. It features a relaxed and upright riding position with a remarkably ergonomic feel, and its low-step build makes it easy to get on and off the bike. Additionally, it’s thoughtfully designed with an integrated front rack, lights, and fenders.
At 47 lbs. (give or take, depending on the specific model), it’s lighter than average for a cruiser-style e-bike. Such a low weight grants the ride a lively, nimble feel with predictable handling.
If you’re looking for a cruiser with a gentler feel, or if you’re sold on e-bikes built by one of the global leaders in bicycling, the Specialized Turbo Como is worth a look. The bike’s premium parts and construction make it a worthy choice for riders seeking a relaxed, capable, and highly ergonomic cruiser!
Pros- The Turbo Como’s custom mid-drive delivers power incredibly smoothly, making for a fun and remarkably natural experience.
- 47 lbs is extremely lightweight for a cruiser bike, making the Turbo Como easy to handle, transport, etc.
- Our range test showed that the bike can travel an impressive distance of over 60 miles on a single charge.
- With integrated lights, fenders, and a cargo rack, it’s highly versatile. It could easily double as a commuter or city bike.
- As with all Specialized e-bikes, the Turbo Como’s ergonomics and build quality are exceptional.
Cons- The custom stem means riders won’t be able to swap handlebars (we found the standard set comfortable).
Electra Townie Go! S
The Townie Go! S from Electra (Trek’s subsidiary lifestyle brand) is a contemporary redesign of a classic beach cruiser. The bike sports a streamlined aesthetic, a responsive and peppy motor, a boatload of user-friendly features, and a few uncommon technological elements that earned it a well-deserved place on this list.
To start, the Townie features relaxed geometry with a “pedal-forward” design; this riding position is intended to enable riders to put their feet on the ground when stopped, while also making pedaling comfortable and efficient. In our experience, its ride feel matched our expectations, with a cushy saddle and ergonomically-curved handlebars being the icing on the cake.
We found the bike fun and easy to pedal; its 500W motor adapted its power output to our testers’ effort while always dishing out enough to keep the ride feeling relaxed. In contrast with previous bikes from Electra/Trek, the Townie also features a throttle, so those who want an even lower-effort experience can cruise under pure motor power.
The Townie’s EasyMag charger is also a highlight; its magnetic lead attaches quickly, while its bar-based charge indicator displays its progress without requiring the bike to be turned on. Tech-savvy users can also take advantage of motor tuning, navigation, and battery life extension features after pairing the bike with the Trek Central app.
Also worth mentioning are the bike’s commuter-friendly features, including integrated lights, turn signals, fenders, and a cargo rack. With a comfortable ride, a great spec package, a user-friendly interface, and a handful of unique color options, the Townie Go! S is new style of beach cruiser that’s sure to turn heads!
Pros- The bike feels peppy and responsive. It delivers enough power to keep pedaling relaxed, while giving you more or less depending on your effort.
- It’s as comfortable as you’d expect from a cruiser, with relaxed handling, a soft yet supportive saddle, and a pedal-forward frame design.
- The Trek Central app opens up options for motor tuning, navigation, and battery charging/preservation.

Retrospec Chatham Rev+
There’s a certain set of expectations when it comes to cruiser-style e-bikes: in most cases, we anticipate a comfortable ride, reserved speed and uphill power, and a classic look. The Retrospec Chatham Rev+ impressed us by checking the expected boxes—and adding a few fresh elements to the mix!
First, with tan-wall tires, a muted green paint job (it has four old-school color options), and aluminum trim aplenty—there’s no denying its retro design. The down-tube-integrated battery, however, is a decidedly contemporary addition that gives it an updated look and feel.
Second, while the bike offers a couple of slower speed limits among its 6 PAS settings, its 500W motor felt more spirited and lively than we typically associate with cruisers. We found its swift acceleration to be delightful!
Third, in terms of comfort, the Rev+’s saddle, handlebars, and grips were exactly as comfortable as we anticipated for a bike of this style. We were more impressed by its 3”-wide tires, however, as they made the ride of the otherwise rigid frame feel cushioned and soft.
Finally, as shown on this list of the best beach cruisers, e-bikes of this style span the full range of prices. We often expect some tradeoffs in feel when dealing with e-bikes on the affordable end of the spectrum, but the Chatham Rev+ felt far better than we expected for its price of around $1,300!
Pros- The Chatham has an uncommon fusion of old- and new-school design with classic styling and an integrated 500 Wh battery.
- We liked its better-than-average feel and performance, especially for its price of about $1300. There is a huge amount of value here!
- It has a category-appropriate level of comfort with its riding position, wide saddle, and 3” tires.
- The bike was fast and capable on hills thanks to its relatively punchy 500W rear hub motor.
- Our testing showed that it has impressive range capability for its specs.
Cons- We’d prefer more distinct 4 PAS settings instead of the six that come standard.
Retrospec Beaumont Rev 2
Who says you can’t find an electric beach cruiser on a budget? Retrospec has cost-conscious riders covered with the Beaumont Rev 2, a spartan yet surprisingly functional retro-style beach cruiser.
The Beaumont is priced at just under $1k, making it one of the most affordable e-bikes we’ve tested and one of the lowest-priced products we feel comfortable recommending. Budget bikes are often a mixed bag, but while there are some tradeoffs for affordability in this case, the Beaumont Rev 2 has a solid spec package, trustworthy build quality, and good performance.
This is a cruiser that feels well-suited for those who haven’t ridden a bike in a while, thanks to its controlled, easygoing 350W motor. It provides enough power to make pedaling easier and more fun, without feeling like the bike will get out of control. As a tradeoff, however, the Beaumont is best for areas with relatively few/small hills.
The bike is also simple to operate, with an over-the-bar thumb shifter for its 7-speed drivetrain, a throttle, and an LED indicator panel instead of a display. While there’s no screen to show riding speed, trip time, etc., that means less information to mentally juggle or distract you from enjoying your surroundings.
Overall, we found the bike very well-equipped for its price, with features such as integrated lights, fenders, a cargo rack, and a chain guard being included at no extra cost. Additionally, the Beaumont Rev 2 comes in five classic-looking color options, proving that it IS possible to get a fun, practical, and sturdy cruiser with loads of personality in an affordable package.

The only BEACH CRUISER is the FAT tire bike (biktrix). The rest of your bikes would not move in the sand and therefore cannot be considered beach cruisers, Also with
such small motors they would hardly move the bike anyway, Unless you walk along side and push.
Beach cruisers are not meant to ride on sand. They’re meant to cruise along a boardwalk or paved beach bike path.
I second what Margarete says. Fat tire bikes are a complete gimmick and do not ride on sand anyway. Try it sometime and see how squirrely they are. You’ll see how ridiculous this statement is. Cruisers do not typically have fat tires.
I’ve notice everyone’s version of a fat is slightly different. For a roadie the old fashion cruiser tire can be considered slightly fatter. Yet not quite what got started as the fat tire more toward scooter width or toward a motorcycle with minimized tread. I’ve found a little more tire when saying getting toward a beach state park barrier Islands, bridges to cross for speed and then going on trails in the throttle adjust assistant while walking it along side into uncharted full sand trails helpful. But I did not need a true fat tire to do so. Because people may be walking thru. If I was on a true wide width fat tire full on all while thru road or full sand trail the wider off road tire and fat tire. Yet that would be a trail not many pedestrians would be on strolling. If near a beach area. The road would have sand in most areas. Roadies venture medium to slow to avoid sliding out. A hybrid slightly wider than road tire ismore my choice in and on beach areas or other sand areas. This way your trail never feels it ever ends. Casual and friendly.

Depends on the beach. The beaches of at least SC and GA, and probably much of the Atlantic coast South of maybe NC, at low tide are perfect for any of these e-bikes… The sand left at low tide is hard-packed and perfect for riding any fat tired bike. Only issue with beach riding is the same anywhere though, can’t escape the impacts of salt on the components… worth it. Nothing better than low tide at night with a full moon to see by… Thanks for the article, good stuff.
